Job Summary
Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Assistant Psychologist (2-year Fixed Term) passionate about working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses. The successful candidate will work at Dartmouth House, our new mental health inpatient unit, based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.
Our two established hospitals, Montague Court and Dartmouth House, have successfully supported the needs of individuals with mental health diagnoses. We also have Orchard House, our recovery home, which provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals on their journey to mental health recovery.
Dartmouth House is a 16-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.
Montague Court is an 18-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Stanford Court will be a 23-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate, Birmingham. This will consist of 19 high dependency beds and four self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment of daily living skills in preparation for discharge.
Orchard House is an 8-bed residential step-down service based in Erdington, Birmingham, which allows extension of the long-term complex care pathway.
Overview of main duties
We are seeking a Senior Assistant Psychologist who will have the opportunity to work autonomously and take on significant responsibilities. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team.
The primary objective is to enhance the psychological care of service users who have complex mental health and behavioural needs. As a Senior Assistant Psychologist, you will provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. You will also carry out administrative tasks related to clinical work, such as conducting audits, collecting statistics, and producing reports.
Additionally, you will engage in research-related activities, including devising and conducting research projects and assisting in the preparation of findings for publication purposes. As a Senior Assistant Psychologist, you will also support the development, delivery, and evaluation of staff training initiatives.

Job Description
As a Senior Assistant Psychologist, your role will involve providing support and enhancing clinical psychology services to service users under the guidance of qualified psychologists. This will include undertaking structured assessments and therapeutic interventions, as well as clinically related administration, audit, research, teaching, and service improvement projects. You will be responsible for conducting psychological assessments of adults with complex and enduring mental health difficulties, using various clinical methodologies and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop care plans and provide low-intensity psychological interventions. Additionally, you will assist in managing service users' risk and problem behaviours, planning and coordinating therapeutic groups, and attending multi-disciplinary meetings. As an integral member of our team, you will work alongside psychiatrists, mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, occupational therapists and psychologists, and receive support and supervision from qualified clinical psychologists. We expect you to engage in research and service evaluation, develop and co-facilitate training and education sessions and materials.
To be considered for the role of Senior Assistant Psychologist, you must hold a Psychology degree with a minimum of 2:1 honours, which is recognised by the British Psychological Society. Additionally, you need to have at least 12 months of experience working with individuals who have mental health challenges and/or learning disabilities, as well as physical health issues or cognitive impairments.

Principle Responsibilities
Professional Practice:

- Facilitate the involvement of people who access occupational therapy services, their families and their carers, as well as staff and/or students, to co-design and co-produce aspects of quality improvement.
- Contribute towards the development of guidelines and polices within the occupational therapy department with more experienced colleagues.

- Attend statutory and mandatory training as necessary as specified by Options for Care.
- Be personally responsible for security of keys/alarms.

- Work in accordance with legislation and organisational guidelines regarding the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and Care Programme Approach.
- Manage a designated workload autonomously under the supervision of a more experienced Occupational Therapist; identify priorities, and manage time and resources effectively, within changing and complex environments.
- Contribute to reviewing and developing services as part of a team, and evaluate the effect and outcomes of change, recognising and influencing a change in culture where needed.

- Develop and maintain professional links within the area specialism of complex care rehabilitation in order to develop and implement best practice, e.g. peer reviews, conferences, RCOT specialist section.

Additional responsibilities:
- To maintain registration with the Health Care Professions Council as an Occupational Therapist.
- Promote, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with Options for Care colleagues and outside agencies.

- Ensure resources are available to deliver planned therapeutic activities.
- Partake in daily departmental and service routine procedures such as therapeutic kitchen management etc. and any other duties deemed appropriate to the role.
- Participate in relevant clinical, team, professional and service meetings, to contribute to quality care for service users. Work as a member of the MDT and to utilise skills of other MDT members.
- Ensure effective communication with other members of the clinical team and external agencies. This will include discharge planning.
- Attend statutory and mandatory training as necessary as specified by Options for Care Ltd.
- To support in providing occupational therapy cover across the Options for Care sites as and when deemed necessary, as a means to sustain service provision for the benefit of service users within our care.
Essential Job Requirements
Training and Qualifications:

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a genuine passion for working with people who have severe and enduring mental health diagnoses. You must be able to work core hours, across all sites whilst providing cover for the on-call duty rota.
In order to apply for the Specialty Doctor post, you will have substantial experience in psychiatry with adults of working age (in the region of two years or more) and must you have full General Medical Council registration.
You will work in collaboration with clinical teams and management to support our high-quality care provision, ensuring that care supports and reflects individuals’ mental health and physical health needs.

Principle responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Facilitate, promote and supervise education, clinical practice and audit.
- Contribute to Quality Governance and attend relevant clinical meetings.
- Identify and contribute to others’ clinical training needs.
- Ensure the promotion of issues of equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
- Ensure effective communication pathways.
Clinical:
- Assess all patients by completing a thorough history, mental state examination, case formulation and physical examination.
- Responsible for the completion of necessary CPA, Managers Hearings and Mental Health Tribunal reports in conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrist.
- There will be occasions when it will be appropriate to liaise with referring Consultant Psychiatrists or other clinical colleagues.
- Attend enhanced Care Program Approach meetings, clinical reviews, Managers Hearings, Mental Health Review Tribunals Hearings and other clinical meetings considered appropriate.
- Facilitation of relevant clinical meetings.
- In conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrist, the post holder will be expected to prescribe and review medication and manage monitoring protocols.
- Initiating treatment plans using the Care Program Approach within the MDT setting, ensuring effective use of resources and updating of plans within the agreed time limits.
- Responsible for coordinating the smooth flow of care from admission to discharge.
- Maintain and monitor standards of care in line with Options for Care principles and vision statement.
- Ensure treatment is compliant with NICE and other guidelines, including monitoring of prescribed medications and audits of compliance.
Communication:
- Liaise with all members of the MDT, GP’s, relatives and other professional agencies/stakeholders.

JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will work with the Medical Director and the Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide the best quality services to adults with a primary diagnosis of mental illness in long-term complex care settings. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Consultant will provide medical leadership as Responsible Clinician to a multidisciplinary clinical team, within a shared leadership framework in which all MDT members work together. The multidisciplinary team will include Resident doctors, psychologists, occupational therapist, and pharmacist. Others are co-opted at various levels when needed; speech and language therapist, social worker; Podiatrist.
The Consultant will be a senior member of the company, being part of the clinical governance committee and other operational committees as necessary and will have the opportunity to take on specific leadership roles in some aspect of clinical service delivery.
The consultant will also be supported by Specialty Doctor, and dedicated admin time for both clinical admin and any admin related to leadership roles they are involved with.
The post-holder will be expected to proactively support the requirements of Clinical Governance and to have responsibility both individually and with colleagues for the general management of the clinical service. This will include dealing with complaints, information governance, identifying and reporting critical untoward incidents, clinical audit, fostering clinically effective and evidence-based interventions and good quality care to patients.

- The post holder is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with organisational policy and professional guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate.

Post holder must have Full General Medical Council registration, at least 12 months of work experience in Rehabilitation Psychiatry at senior clinical level and at least 24 months experience in senior psychiatry role in the UK.
Job Summary
Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional Mental Health Nurse passionate about working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses, working 157.5 hours every 4 weeks in our high dependency unit, opening in Highgate, Birmingham. You will need to be flexible to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. You will be collaboratively working alongside a full multi disciplinary team including external stakeholders.
The individual will assist in the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of the care of our service, working in a multi disciplinary setting. - You must be a Registered Mental Health Nurse, registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council or in the process of achieving your registration.
